Aledo girls subvarsity wins at Krum

The Ladycats junior varsity and freshmen teams both came home with the championship from the Krum Tournament on Nov. 15. Each then improved to 7-0 on the season with wins over Euless Trinity on Nov. 17.

Aledo JV 68, Trinity 7: Sunny Rosado-23, Payce Kinman 12, Kirby Pullium 9, Hayden Spoon 6, Journee Shackleford 5, Lyla Salas 4, Carlee Sanders 2, Harper Harbuck 2.

Ickert reaches milestone for TCA

The Willow Park Trinity Christian Lady Eagles are 1-1 through two games in the young basketball season, but senior Emily Ickert has already reached a milestone. She scored 31 points in the latest contest, allowing her to surpass 2,000 points in her high school career.

 

Lady Roos down Keller Central

The Weatherford Lady Roos defeated Keller Central 57-38 on Nov. 18, improving to 6-1. Players of the Game: Anaylah Smith 22 points; McKinley Martin 10 points, 10 rebounds.

The freshmen Lady Roos won 49-11.

 

Roos sweep Wichita Falls Memorial

Varsity: 66–41.

JV: 78–41.

Freshman: 44–37.

 

AMS girls sweep Kennedale

The Aledo Middle School Ladycats won all four games played against Kennedale Junior High in their season opener.

“The girls worked on execution of plays, improving our defense, and becoming more comfortable playing with each other,” coach Lindsey Fry said. “All our teams started their Thanksgiving break off with a smile.”

Seventh grade: A team won 83-3, B team won 54-0. Kennedale has no C team.

Eighth grade: A team won 47-20, B team won 37-3.

 

BASEBALL

Tickets available for Bearcats fundraiser

Tickets are available for the Aledo Bearcats Poker Night Fundraiser on Jan. 17 at Morningstar Amenity Center, 128 Heather Wind Lane, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7.

Tickets are $150, which includes entry to play, dinner, drinks and a raffle ticket. Spectator tickets are $50, which include dinner, drinks and a raffle ticket.

CROSS COUNTRY

Merrill honored for TCA

Senior Bo Merrill was named academic all-state by the Texas Association of Private and Parchial Schools. Merrill competed at the TAPPS State Meet in Waco recently, finishing 14th in Class 4A.

 

VOLLEYBALL

Lady Eagles named all-district

Several members of the Trinity Christian Lady Eagles were named to the TAPPS All-District 1-4A Team. They are Alex Ickert, first team; Emily Ickert, first team; Kami James, first team; Paisley James, first team; Berlynn Kaznowski, second team; Lyla Kloven, second team; Taylor Gilliam, Newcomer of the Year; Adah Kloven, honorable mention;

 

Lady Lions honored

Six members of the Weatherford Christian School Lady Lions were named to the TAPPS All-District 1-3A Team. They are Allison Miller, first team; Ella Cummings, second team; Alexandra Errico, second team; Valerie Gillispie, second team;

Sara Carreon, honorable mention; Haley Schorsten, honorable mention.

 

SWIMMING

Weatherford swimmers have strong showing

Several Weatherford High swimmers posted personal-best performances at the recent Keller ISD Non-TISCA Invitational (distance in yards):

Kody Burlison: 50 Freestyle, 26.32.

Emma Kechnie: 100 Freestyle, 1:12.90; 100 Breaststroke, 1:31.80.

Nolan Crickman: 100 Freestyle, 2:20.41; 50 Freestyle, 1:06.43.

Camryn Freas-Lewis: 50 Freestyle, 37.24; 100 Freestyle, 1:31.78.

 

FISHING

WCS duo competes in tourney

Weatherford Christian School bass Ffshing duo Rylee and Cooper Gosnell competed in a tournament at Lake Whitney recently. Their five-bag limit and 11.3 pounds earned them 18th place out of 146 boats.
