Gay credited Weatherford for giving the Ladycats as much as they could handle.
“Weatherford is a good volleyball team. They’ve got some very good outside hitters; they’ve got a tall middle that gave us trouble blocking-wise,” Gay said. “I thought they did a good job serving us stuff, so we got a little bit more out of the system than we anticipated to be.”
Aledo outside hitter Kaelee Berkley led the team in kills with 10. Defensive specialist Alondra Delgado and setters Charlotte Gartner and Harper Harbuck all had two aces, leading the team. Harbuck also finished with a team-high 22 assists. Libero Karsyn Evans led Aledo with 12 digs, and the team finished with 10 blocks.
