The Weatherford High School football team found out first-hand why North Crowley is ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 10 in the nation Friday night, Oct. 18. The Panthers scored early and often, beating the Kangaroos 62-6 at the Crowley ISD Multipurpose Stadium.
The North Crowley offense racked up 629 yards of offense compared to Weatherford’s 153.
University of North Texas commit Chris Jimmerson, Jr. threw five touchdown passes, going 17-of-23 for 281 yards and no interceptions.
The Weatherford offense showed some life early, capping off a 12-play, 75-yard drive with a 25-yard Brennen Boehl touchdown run to cut North Crowley's lead to 13-6 near the end of the first quarter. But the Panthers then proceeded to score 49 unanswered points.
Another bright spot was the lack of turnovers for the Roos. After committing the most turnovers in District 3-6A through the first six games, no fumbles or interceptions Friday night were a welcome sight for Weatherford.
Daniel Bray looked special for the Panthers. He ran for 109 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries.
North Crowley improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in district play. Weatherford dropped to 0-7 and 0-3.
Weatherford will look for its first victory of the year at Kangaroo Stadium Friday, Oct. 26 against Mansfield Lake Ridge (1-6, 0-3). This will be the first meeting between the teams in their history.
The Kangaroos follow that game by hosting still winless Boswell (0-7, 0-3) on Nov. 1 and end the season by visiting Mansfield (7-1, 3-1 on Nov. 8). All games begin at 7 p.m.
The Kangaroos are experiencing their first losing regular season since 2018, when they finished 4-7 (4-6 in the regular season) and advanced to bidistrict. They finished 5-6 in 2020, but were 5-5 in the regular season before falling in bidistrict.
