Boone competes at state cross country

For a second consecutive year, Weatherford’s Remington Boone advanced to the Class 6A State Cross Country Meet. The junior clocked a time of 18 minutes, 15.14 seconds over the 5K course at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock to place 18th.

 

VOLLEYBALL

Lady Roos’ season ends in bidistrict

The Lady Roos dropped their Class 6A bidistrict playoff match to Northwest on Oct. 30. The Lady Texans won three consecutive games by identical 25-20 scores.

Weatherford ended the season 23-15 overall and was third in District 3-6A with an 8-4 record.

No individual statistics were available.

 

FOOTBALL

Roos fall at Boswell

The Kangaroos lost 44-35 at Saginaw Boswell on Oct. 31, falling to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in District 3-6A. Leading Weatherford were:

Passing: Brooks Kerbow 17-of-23, 247 yards, TD, interception.

Rushing: DJ Quimby 22 carries, 197 yards, 4 TD; Kerbow 6-40.

Receiving: Jakob Hemphill 8 catches, 114 yards; Bryant Davis 3-35.

 

GIRLS GOLF

Lady Roos win at Burleson

The Lady Roos battled through cold temps and high winds at Hidden Creek Golf Course and won the Burleson Elks Fall Classic. Kennedy Bailey was the individual champion and Ava Cordary was in the top five.

 

SWIMMING

WHS competes at Keller

The Kangaroos and Lady Roos competed in Keller on Nov. 1. They were led by Cullen Costello, who was second among the boys in the 100-yard butterfly and fourth in the 50 breaststroke.
