Squaw Creek road work on ballot

Posted

When voters in Willow Park go to the polls on or before Nov. 3, one of the issues they will decide is whether to authorize the city to move forward with the issuance of certificates of obligation for up to $10.1 million earmarked for road and infrastructure work, most notably in the Squaw Creek Road area.

The council planned to issue the certificates late last year, but a petition drive forced the issue to the November ballot.

The Squaw Creek Road area has been plagued with deteriorating road conditions, bad drainage, and leaking water mains.

Willow Park City Manager Toni Fisher noted that while voter-approval would allow council to go forward with issuing the COs for this road project, failure of the measure would mean the city cannot issue or even request a vote for funds for such work in the form of COs for three more years, per the Texas Legislature.
