Former Bearcat standing out in Rockies organization

Former Aledo Bearcat Max Belyeu is off to a strong start in his professional baseball career.

Playing for High-A Spokane, part of the Colorado Rockies organization, he had posted a batting average of .318 with three home runs in his first 26 plate appearances. He also had an on-base percentage of .423 and a slugging percentage of .727.

 

CROSS COUNTRY

Hall, Tison compete at Brock

Weatherford Hall and Tison Middle Schools competed in the Brock Invitational on Aug. 28. Leading Hall were:

Seventh-grade girls: Ellie Whitman, 11th.

Eighth-grade girls: Anna Wyatt, third; Iluciana Craven, 18th.

Seventh-grade boys: Aiden Wallace, sixth; Max Fischer, 13th.

Eighth-grade boys: Jayden Hendrix, fourth; Blake Galbraith, 20th.

Tison medalists were Brodie Crispen, Isaac Carpio, Jacob McClendon, Jasper Harmer and Easton O’Neill.

 

GOLF

Stars & Strides Tournament

Sugartree Golf Club will host the Stars & Strides Stables Charity Golf Tournament on Sept. 12. The four-player scramble will feature two flights with registration at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Both flights will receive lunch. Cost to enter is $85 per person or $340 per team.

Stars & Strides gives riders with disabilities a place to learn and become competitive equestrians.

TENNIS

Weatherford downs Legacy

The Weatherford Kangaroos/Lady Roos defeated Mansfield Legacy on Aug. 27. Players of the Game: Cooper Edwards and Natalye Valerio.

Will Snider’s win clinched the match for Weatherford.

 

VOLLEYBALL

Milestones reached in Brock wins

The Brock Lady Eagles defeated Peaster 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20 on Aug. 26. It was the 400th career win for Lady Eagles coach Nick Gay.

Also in the match, Macey Brim recorded the 2,000th assist of her career.

 

Ladycats subvarsity sweeps Midlothian

The Aledo Ladycats subvarsity continued their strong seasons on Aug. 26, sweeping host Midlothian.

The freshmen A won 25-14, 14-25 and 15-2, while freshmen B won 25-11, 25-8. The junior varsity also won in two games, 25-23, 25-17.
