Area athletes honored by THSCA

Several senior athletes earned academic all-state honors from the Texas High School Coaches Association. They are:

From Aledo:

• Girls basketball: Elizabeth Griffin, first team; Mesoma Emeka-Okoye, honorable mention; Brenna Clock, honorable mention.
• Girls wrestling: Lillian Caruthers, honorable mention.
• Boys wrestling: Wilson Lewis, second team; Brice Bohn, honorable mention; Jonathan Neff, honorable mention; Brady Powell, honorable mention.

From Weatherford:

• Girls basketball: Olivia Dean, first team; Gracie Hull, honorable mention; Brooklyn Mayfield, honorable mention; Jada Martin, honorable mention.
• Boys basketball: Aiden Pool, honorable mention.
• Wrestling: Kaylie Yamada, honorable mention.

To qualify, a player must be a senior in good standing, of good moral character, and have a grade point average of 92 (on a scale of 100) or above for grades 9-11 and up to date as a senior (weighted GPAs excepted).
