As an adherent of Murphy’s Law (if anything can go wrong, it will, and at the worst possible moment) I have come to depend on it in some situations and attempt to use it to my advantage.
Such an occasion arose recently when I lost my glasses. Numerous searches failed to turn them up, and I began strategizing on how to use Murphy’s law to find my glasses.
“Of course,” it occurred to me. “I need to get new glasses. As soon as they are delivered, my old glasses will turn up.”
I went through the process of getting new glasses ordered, and a couple of weeks later they arrived. I picked them up, put them on, and headed home secure in the knowledge that now my old glasses would turn up.
Alas, a week later, and still no old glasses. But, I got an updated prescription with my new glasses, and a fashion boost as well, and have learned that Murphy’s law doesn’t always apply.
