Student creativity and talent were on full display at this year’s student art show, which featured an impressive 227 entries from across the county. Participants represented schools including Weatherford High School, Hall Middle School, Tison Middle School, Aledo High School, Aledo Middle School, McAnally Middle School, and Millsap High School.
The exhibition highlighted the dedication of both students and educators. Teachers supporting the event included Diane Bolinger, Erin Light, Kristina Supercinski, and Leigh Poage from Weatherford ISD, along with Linda Greenwood, Estee Diaz, Alex Sharp, Arlene Shelton, Sherese Dickerson, Ciara Pias, and Chris Guild from Aledo ISD, and Danny Golightly from Millsap ISD.
In the Art 1 (Grades 6 – 8) division, Anna Aquirre of McAnally Middle School earned first place. Inaya Soringa took second place with “Inn The City,” while Carly Carwile of Tison Middle School placed third with “Pelican.” All of the work in this division demonstrated strong foundational skills and creativity among emerging artists.
At the high school level for Art 1 (Grades 9 – 12), Kylee Vandiver of Aledo High School was awarded first place, followed by Ayannis Morales in second. Donna Shockley earned third place with “Interstellar Luna.”
In the Art 2 (Grades 7 – 8) category, Lily Obana of McAnally Middle School placed first, with Paisley Miller earning second and Alexa Robert of Hall Middle School taking third. This division showcased a wide range of techniques, from pencil and watercolor to mixed media and oil pastel, reflecting students’ growing confidence and experimentation.
The Art 2 (Grades 9 – 12) division saw Autumn Hood of Aledo High School earn first place, followed by Kendall Gasper in second. Mackenna Gordon placed third with “Escape From Reality.”
Advanced students competed in the Art 3–4/AP category, where Alyssa Lane of Weatherford High School earned first place with “Shadowed Grace.” Zoe Field of Millsap High School placed second with “Not Just Another Pretty Face,” and Rebecca Hernandez of Aledo High School earned third with “Fruit of My Labor.”
In the Sculpture division, Julie Melo de Oliveira of Weatherford High School took first place with “Look Up Lost Soul.” Brody Poore earned second with “Doortunities,” and Amelia Buck placed third with “Wrapped in Fantasy.”
The prestigious Best of Show award was presented to Madison Southwick of Aledo High School for an outstanding Art 3–4/AP piece, recognized as the top work among all entries.
With participation spanning multiple campuses and skill levels, the annual art show celebrated not only artistic excellence, but also the importance of arts education.
