Crowley quarterback Caleb Williams threw five touchdown passes as the Eagles defeated Weatherford Friday, Sept. 15, 50-29 at Kangaroo Stadium. Williams was 28 for 37 for 242 yards.
It was the District 3-6A opener for both teams.
Weatherford tied the game 29-29 in the third quarter, but 21 unanswered Crowley points put the game out of reach.
After falling behind 21-8 in the second quarter, the Kangaroos rallied. Xavier Holder returned a kickoff 79 yards, setting up a 1-yard touchdown by JoJo Polk.
With 2:09 to go in the half, freshman quarterback Cutter Kennedy threw an 86-yard touchdown to Colton McClure.
Eagle receiver Derrick Page caught two Williams touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, one for 24 yards with 1:13 to go and another for 9 yards in the closing seconds.
Kennedy was 15-of-21 for 200 yards and two touchdowns. Polk rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
Micah Moore led the Weatherford defense with 10 tackles.
Crowley improved to 4-0 overall, Weatherford dropped to 2-2.
The Kangaroos travel to Chisholm Trail Friday, Sept. 22. The Rangers (1-3) lost to L.D. Bell 73-15 Sept. 15. Weatherford beat Chisholm Trail 46-7 in 2022.
