Aledo runners garner TGSCA honors

Posted

Senior Molly Garrison and sophomore Addie Fields (grades at time of state competition) have been named Class 5A All-State Track and Field by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. The duo recently combined for three top-five finishes at the University Interscholastic League Class 5A State Track and Field Meet on May 15 at the University of Texas in Austin.

Fields finished third in the pole vault, clearing a career-best 12 feet, 6 inches.

Garrison placed fourth in the 3200-meter run, clocking a time of 10 minutes, 48.76 seconds. She also placed fifth in the 1600 with a time of 4:58.63.

Garrison finished in the top six in four races during her final two years of high school. She was third in the 1600 and sixth in the 3200 as a junior.

Garrison is also a prolific cross country runner, having reached state all four years, individually as a freshman and three straight seasons with the Ladycats team. She was named the TGCA 5A-6A Cross Country Female Athlete of the Year in 2025 after finishing second at state and helping the Ladycats to a third-place team finish (preceded by second in 2023 and third in 2024).

Garrison will be back on the same track in Mike A. Myers Stadium soon as she will be running for the University of Texas.

Academic all-state

Garrison is also one of six Ladycats who was named academic all-state in track and field by the TGCA. She is joined by Malia Belanger, Sofia Brandenburg, Claire Campbell, Kara Overstreet, and Savannah Thompson.

To qualify for TGCA academic all-state, an athlete must be graduating seniors, have an overall GPA of 94 or above (grades 9-11), be in good standing on a varsity team, and exhibit good moral character.
