Weatherford teacher accused of inappropriate texting

Weatherford police officers arrested a former Weatherford ISD teacher Thursday, Aug. 6.

The arrest warrant for Chase Liles, 38, listed “Improper Relationship Between Educator/Students,” a second-degree felony.

Liles resigned from WISD Aug. 5, the day before his arrest.

According to a police report, Child Protective Services notified WPD on July 30 that a male educator had been accused of exchanging inappropriate text messages with a student. An investigation revealed Liles had been sending inappropriate messages to a 17-year-old student.

“As part of the district’s process, WISD worked closely with Weatherford Police and notified the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the State Board of Educator Certification,” the district wrote in a press release to The Community News. “Due to privacy laws and the ongoing legal process, Weatherford ISD cannot provide additional information regarding this personnel matter. Weatherford ISD takes all reports involving student safety seriously and is committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for every student.”

According to WPD, the investigation is ongoing to determine if there are additional victims.
