In front of a standing room-only audience at its recent meeting, the Weatherford School Board recognized the district's Future Farmers of America program and their accomplishments at the 96th Annual FFA State Convention.
Charlotte LaGrone, Executive Director of Communications for the Weatherford ISD, introduced the recipients and their accomplishments (some of the members were unable to attend the ceremony).
“Weatherford FFA, the 10th largest FFA chapter in the state, was recently recognized on stage at the 96th Annual FFA State Convention for qualifying as a 3-Star Gold Ranked National Chapter," she said. "Weatherford is one of only 25 FFA chapters in Texas to achieve this accomplishment, and they will now advance to the national level for scoring."
There are 1,095 FFA chapters in Texas.
These students have also advanced to the national competition that will take place in Indiana in October.
Less than 2% of FFA members receive Lone Star Degree.
“In addition, three of our staff members were named Honorary Lone Star recipients,” LaGrone noted. They are Dr. Kady Donaghey, DeAnn Seal, and Wacey Horton.
