Weatherford Christian runs at Brewer
The Weatherford Christian School cross country team ran at the Brewer Invitational on Friday, Oct. 9.
The boys team won the varsity 4A-and-under division.
Weatherford Christian’s Jack Muhlenkamp won the 5,000-meter race, finishing with a time of 18 minutes 15 seconds, more than 45 seconds ahead of second place. The Lions team top five runners also included Owen Thompson (15th), Corban Kelly (17th), Eli Vanzant (23rd) and Michael Xie (24th).
The lone girl running for WCS was Evelyn Woody, who finished fourth in the two-mile event with a time of 13:20.
Coach Jill Muhlenkamp thought the course presented a challenge for her team.
“It was a slow course, and there were definitely no personal records run at the meet,” Muhlenkamp said. “It was challenging and technical, with lots of hills and turns, but the team persevered and ran very well. We incorporate hill work into our practices, so one of our goals is to use the hills to our advantage.”
The Lions are scheduled to run Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Brad Lutz Invitational at North Lakes Park.
