Two milestones for the town of Annetta

Recognizing a decade of service

Posted

Annetta City Council members honored Jamee Long, the town of Annetta’s city secretary/administrator, for 10 years of service during their Aug. 20 meeting.

“Things like this can’t run without a Jamee,” said Matt Davidson, council member. “As someone who owns and runs a business … I completely understand how important it is to have a Jamie.”

Davidson was sworn in as a council member later that night.

The mayor and other council members backed up that claim, sharing experiences and stories of their time working alongside Long.

Council member Kent Stasey

“When we got Jamee, she was certified, educated with this kind of activity and she started teaching us what we needed to do, reminding us of all the things that were required and just making it a better place to not only do our job by statute, but it just made a better place for everybody to work. When I talk about the level of service that we try to provide here in Annetta, Jamee is the one behind that.”

Council member Danny Coffman

“We’ve done a lot with a little, and that’s attributed to people like Jamee … I commend you with the highest honors that I can think about or believe to give somebody because it’s people like you that make this town, like Annetta, work as smooth as it has.”

Council member Jim Causey

“She makes the budgeting job so easy with all the data that she provides and very workable formats that are exactly what you need and very responsive … that’s attributable to your diligence on making sure we’re doing the right things.”

Council member Brandon Thompson

“And if you have any questions, ask Jamie. I think that encompasses it all. “She knows all of our jobs better than we do.”

Mayor Sandy Roberts

“I feel honored to be sitting here in council with her, and I’m honored to actually be able to work with her for the past several years.  “She makes my job easy … Without her, I don’t know what I would do … She is an amazing asset to every citizen in Annetta.”

In other news, the board:

  • Appointed Traci Fambrough to Planning & Zoning Commission, Place 2;
  • Approved the draft of the 2026-27 Town of Annetta budget;
  • Discussed the Parker County Utility Agency Agreement with Robert McGee of KKM Associates, who addressed concerns about service areas that cross both the Parker County and Wise County lines and how that will affect voting power and initial financial obligations. They also discussed how participants of the PUA will pay infrastructure rates based on use of the system, ensuring not just an equal split among larger cities.
