Trinity Christian homecoming festivities planned

Posted

Trinity Christian Academy will celebrate homecoming with a parade and pep rally on Thursday, Sept. 19, and the varsity football team will compete against TK Gorman at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at Eagle Stadium at the Ludwig Family Athletic Complex at Trinity Christian Academy.

There will be a special TCA alumni reception from 6-6:45 p.m. where all past alumni and teachers are invited to attend to catch up on what has been happening in life after TCA.

The homecoming parade will be held on Thursday at the school at 2 followed by the pep rally in Barber Gym. Spirit Week returns this year, when secondary students trade in their school uniforms for a week’s worth of specially themed dress days.

Another important homecoming tradition is the selection of the homecoming court. Students in grades 9-12 chose representatives for each high school grade. Sometimes perceived as a popularity contest, TCA urges students to go beyond that when choosing class representatives. Mr. and Miss TCA will be announced at halftime of the game.

“Students were asked to select classmates who regularly demonstrate a bold, uncompromising faith in Jesus Christ, respect authority, are honest, practice godly speech, show kindness, seek unity among the student body, and serve as exemplary role models for students of all ages,”  TCA Secondary Principal Jesse Whiteaker said.

This year's TCA High School Homecoming Court includes:

Freshman elect: Avery Huffman and Luke Harless.

Sophomore elect: Charity Gables and Marshall Hughes.

Junior elect; Emily Ickert and Rhyder Dawson.

The senior class Homecoming Court representatives are also candidates for Mr. and Miss TCA. They are Avery Tiwater, Anna Nelson, Rylie Reeder, Sam Carson, Micah Harless, and Will Saadeh.

“Students in grades six to 12 made these selections based upon which of these senior class representatives best fulfilled the ideals of Trinity Christian Academy in terms of spiritual maturity and excellent behavior,” Whiteaker said.
