TCA hosts, wins first meet

Trinity Christian Academy hosted its first cross country meet Saturday, Sept. 26, but didn’t play very hospitable hosts.

The Eagles dominated the boys 28-team field, finishing first overall.

Jacob Soto led TCA and the whole field, finishing first with a time of 15 minutes, 46 seconds. Samuel Keyes (5th), Henry Reynolds (16th), Caleb Wall (17th), and Ethan Gillespie (22nd) rounded out the Eagles scoring as they dominated the race as a team.

Weatherford Christian took part despite competing against schools much larger than the team is used to as the Lions boys team finished ninth overall.

Owen Thompson finished first for WCS coming in 55th with a time of 20:35. Liam Slade (63rd), Eli Vanzant (73rd), Enfan Xie (81st), and Gavin Slade (82nd) rounded out the Lions scoring.

Both TCA and WCS had one girl run in the varsity race. Emma Saadeh from TCA finished fifth in the two-mile race with a time of 13:01 while Evelyn Woody from WCS placed ninth with a time of 13:12.

WCS is scheduled to run on Friday, Oct. 9, at the Brewer Invitational at Central Park in White Settlement. Both are scheduled to race on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Lake Cities Brad Lutz Invitational at North Lakes Park in Denton.
