Mattingly Bristow, a freshman at Weatherford High School and a junior varsity tennis player, won the United States Tennis Association Texas Sportsmanship Award. She is recognized as one of the top wheelchair tennis players in the nation.

The Weatherford Lady Roos are ranked No. 14 in the state in Class 6A this week by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. They are 11-0-2.
Since the start of the 2024 season the Lady Roos are 46-4-6.
The Weatherford Lady Roos got the fall season underway, winning a tournament at Lake Arlington. The Kangaroos placed fifth on the boys’ side.
With a team score of 351, the Lady Roos had four golfers in the top five. Kennedy Bailey and Linda Patterson tied for first with a two-day total of 168 (+26). The title went to Bailey on a scorecard playoff.
The Kangaroos shot 329. They were led by Madden Ward and Dylan Sinning.

The Aledo Ladycats are ranked No. 4 in the preseason in Class 5A by Texas High School Softball. They return six starters and are coming off a 30-4 season and another state semifinals appearance.
Also from Parker County, Brock is ranked No. 12 in Class 4A and Springtown is No. 15. The Lady Eagles return six starters from a 29-2-2 regional semifinalist and the Lady Pines have seven returning starters from a 20-11 regional semifinalist.
The first season of swimming for Weatherford High School came to an end on Feb. 6-7 at the 6A Region I Meet. Top finishers for WHS were:
Bethany Crowe, seventh in 200-yard individual medley, 10th in 100 backstroke.
Logan Crowe, third in 100 butterfly, fourth in 200 IM.
Brady D’Spain, 12th in 100 breaststroke.
200 freestyle relay (D’Spain, Zach Edwards, Cullen Costello, L. Crowe), ninth.
Girls Doubles champions: Madeline Jordan and Diana Agusti.
Boys Singles, consolation champion: Braden Griggs.
Boys Doubles runners-up: Dylan Poston and Konnor Nickerson.
Boys Singles runner-up: Matthew Trevino.
Kyra Billingsley placed fifth in the girls 135-pound weight class at the Class 6A Region I Meet for Weatherford. She is an alternate at this weekend’s state tournament in Cypress.
