WEATHERFORD – For the fourth time in as many district matches, the Weatherford Lady Roos walked off the harwood as winners. The Lady Roos hosted Mansfield Legacy with a chance to avenge a five-set loss from earlier in the district portion of the season, and Weatherford capitalized on that opportunity Friday night. The Lady Roos won the match by a final score of 25-19, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-21.

“We have been focusing on ourselves first and what we need to do to be successful,” Lady Roos head coach Courtney Hammett said. “We are doing this on the mental side of the game no matter who is across the net from us.”

The victory elevated Weatherford to second place in the district with six league wins against two losses. Weatherford currently sits a half game behind Lake Ridge for the top spot in the District 3-6A standings.

Star junior Claire Conner led the surging Lady Roos 18 kills and 14 digs while junior outside hitter Emma Thornton impressed with 15 kills, 11 digs and two aces. Junior setter Keegan Hull distributed the ball well with 22 assists.

The Lady Roos (22-15, 6-2) will defend their home court once more at 6 p.m. Tuesday against North Crowley.
