John Edsel Goforth passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born on February 10, 1931, in loving memory of his parents Stonewall Jackson Goforth and Faye Edrie Goforth, John went on to graduate from Texas A&M University and embark on a distinguished 20-year career in the Air Force, culminating in his work as a Cattle Rancher.
John’s interests included fervent support for the Aggies, watching various sports, particularly football and baseball, and coaching little league baseball. He was also an avid hunter and dedicated rancher who took great pride in his cattle herd. Each year, he enjoyed attending the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Above all, his cherished moments were spent with family and friends enjoying the fun conversations and food.
John is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Johnnie Lovell Goforth. He leaves behind sons Greg Goforth, Rex Koontz and wife Daniela, John Goforth and wife Kimberly, daughter Holley White and husband Marc, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Aledo Brown Cemetery with full military honors.
