Hammons announces candidacy for Pct. 4 Commissioner

Posted

Fred Hammons announced he is running for Parker County Commissioner, Precinct 4. He said he “believes citizens deserve a commissioner who is actually present, consistently responsive, and personally available when they need help.”

Hammons said he is a conservative Republican, a longtime Parker County resident, and is not part of the political establishment and that his life has been shaped by service rather than politics. He is a former law enforcement officer and firefighter — roles that he said demand discipline, integrity, accountability, and a constant readiness to serve. Hammons said these experiences taught him that real leadership is not about position or title, but about showing up, listening carefully, and taking action when people need help.

Hammons said that, if elected, serving as County Commissioner will be his full-time responsibility. He said he has no outside businesses and no competing professional interests. His time, focus, and energy would be devoted entirely to the residents of Precinct 4. He views the position not as a part-time role, but as a serious public trust that demands full commitment.

Throughout the campaign, Hammons said he continues to hear the same concern from residents across the precinct: phone calls not returned, emails unanswered, and citizens feeling disconnected from county government. Hammons has pledged that, if elected, he will be available, responsive, and present for the people he represents.

Hammons is also self-funding his campaign and is not accepting money from special interests or political insiders. He says this independence ensures his loyalty will remain solely with the citizens of Parker County rather than donors or political pressure.

Hammons has further raised concerns about the recently approved salary increases for a number of elected county offices. According to Hammons, these were not modest cost-of-living adjustments but substantial increases — some totaling tens of thousands of dollars in a single year. He said he believes such decisions deserve transparency, public discussion, and accountability, especially at a time when many families are facing rising living costs. Hammons said taxpayers have a right to expect fiscal responsibility and openness from their local government.
